What is ShopSentry
ShopSentry is a Shopify competitor tracking tool. It monitors any public Shopify store on your behalf - detecting price changes, new product launches, stock movements, and product removals - and sends you instant alerts via email or Telegram the moment something changes.
ShopSentry has two modes:
- Personal - track individual products you care about. Useful for waiting on a price drop or a restock on a specific item.
- Business - track entire Shopify stores. Useful for dropshippers and brand owners monitoring competitor catalogs.
Quick Start Guide
Step 1 - Create your account
Step 2 - Choose your plan type
Step 3 - Add your first store or product
- Business users: go to Tracked Stores → click Add Store → paste any Shopify store URL.
- Personal users: go to Products → click Track Product → paste any Shopify product URL.
Step 4 - Set up alerts
Step 5 - Wait for your first alert

How to Track a Shopify Store
- Go to Tracked Stores in the sidebar.
- Click Add Store.
- Paste the Shopify store URL - e.g.
https://gymshark.com. - ShopSentry validates the URL, resolves the store catalog, and saves an initial snapshot.
- From the next scheduled check onward, any changes will trigger alerts.
Supported URLs: Any public Shopify store. Custom domains and myshopify.com domains both work.
Not supported: Password-protected stores, non-Shopify stores.
What ShopSentry tracks per store
- All products and their variants
- Price per variant
- Stock availability per variant (in stock / out of stock)
- New products added
- Products removed from the catalog
How to Track a Shopify Product
- Go to Products in the sidebar.
- Click Track Product.
- Paste the product URL - e.g.
https://store.nike.com/products/air-max-90. - ShopSentry extracts all variants from the product and begins tracking.
- You can optionally track a specific variant only - paste the URL with
?variant=IDincluded.
What ShopSentry tracks per product
- Price changes on any variant
- Stock status changes per variant (back in stock / went out of stock)
Understanding Variants
Most Shopify products have variants - different sizes, colors, or options. ShopSentry tracks each variant independently. This means:
- A price drop on Size M triggers an alert specifically for Size M.
- If Size L goes out of stock but Size M is still available, you get an alert only for Size L.
- Back in stock alerts fire per variant - so you know exactly which size or color became available.
Check Frequency
| Plan | Check frequency |
|---|---|
| Personal Free | Every 24 hours |
| Personal Hunter | Every 1 hour |
| Business Free | Every 24 hours |
| Business Pro | Every 1 hour |
| Business Agency | Every 1 hour |
Checks run automatically - you don't need to do anything. ShopSentry runs on a scheduled job that processes all tracked stores and products on the above intervals.
Alert Types
ShopSentry generates the following alert types:
| Alert | What triggers it |
|---|---|
| Price Drop | A variant's price decreased |
| Price Increase | A variant's price increased |
| New Product | A new product was added to a tracked store |
| Out of Stock | A variant's availability changed from in stock to out of stock |
| Back in Stock | A variant's availability changed from out of stock to in stock |
| Product Removed | A product was removed from a tracked store's catalog |
Note: ShopSentry does not show exact inventory quantity numbers. Stock alerts are based on Shopify's availability signal (in stock / out of stock) which is what Shopify's own storefront uses to determine if a product can be purchased.

Alert Severity Levels
Business plan alerts include a severity level to help you prioritize:
| Severity | When it applies |
|---|---|
| Critical | Out of stock on a tracked variant |
| High | Price drop of 10% or more / product removed |
| Medium | New product launch / price drop under 10% / back in stock |

Frequently Asked Questions
How often does ShopSentry check stores?
Free plans check every 24 hours. Hunter, Pro, and Agency plans check every hour.
Which stores can I track?
Any public Shopify store. If a store has a password or is not built on Shopify, ShopSentry cannot track it.
Can I track non-Shopify stores?
Not currently. ShopSentry is built specifically for Shopify stores.
Will tracked stores know they're being monitored?
No. ShopSentry only reads publicly available product data - the same data anyone can see by visiting the store.
How do I know if a store is on Shopify?
Try adding .json to the end of the store's products URL: store.com/products.json. If it returns product data the store is on Shopify.
Can I export my alert data?
CSV export is available on the Agency plan.
Is there an API?
API access is coming soon and will be available on the Agency plan. See the API Reference page for details.
How do I cancel?
Go to Billing → Manage Subscription → Cancel. Access continues until end of billing period.
I'm not receiving alerts - what should I do?
Check your spam folder first. Then go to Settings and confirm email alerts are enabled. If the problem continues contact support@datascrape.in.
