How to see all products on a Shopify store

5 min read

People search this for two different reasons: to see every product in their OWN Shopify store, or to see the full catalog of ANOTHER store - including items that aren't linked from the menu. This guide covers both, starting with your own store.

If it's your own store: the admin Products page

To see all products in a store you own or manage, open your Shopify admin and go to Products in the left menu. That page lists everything - active, draft, and archived - with filters, sorting, and bulk editing. It's the complete, authoritative view of your catalog.

To see your live products the way customers do, visit the automatic 'all products' collection on your storefront:

https://yourstore.com/collections/all
Only seeing a limited number per page on the storefront? That's your theme's products-per-page setting, not a Shopify limit - raise it in your theme's collection settings (or theme code) to show more.

Seeing another store's full catalog

The rest of this guide is about viewing a store you DON'T own - a competitor's or any public Shopify store. You can't open their admin, but their public catalog is still fully visible. Here are three free methods, easiest to most complete.

Method 1: The /products.json endpoint (most complete)

Every public Shopify store publishes its catalog as JSON. Add /products.json to the store's domain and open it in your browser:

https://examplestore.com/products.json?limit=250
This returns up to 250 products per page. Add &page=2, &page=3 and so on until you get an empty list - that's the whole catalog, including products not linked in the menu.

Method 2: The /collections/all page

Most Shopify stores have an automatic 'all products' collection you can browse directly:

  • Add ?sort_by=best-selling to order it by best sellers - a rough demand signal.
  • Add ?sort_by=created-descending to see the newest products first.

Method 3: The store's sitemap

Shopify auto-generates a sitemap that links to product sitemaps listing every product URL:

https://examplestore.com/sitemap.xml

What these methods can't do on their own

All three show you a snapshot - what the store sells right now. They won't tell you when a price drops, when something sells out, or when a new product launches. For that you'd have to re-check every product, every day, and compare it to the day before.

That's the part worth automating. Shop Sentry reads the same public catalog data, discovers every product from just the store's domain, and alerts you the moment a price, stock level, or product changes - so you catch the movement, not just the snapshot.

How to tell if a store runs on Shopify

These methods only work on Shopify stores, so it helps to confirm the platform first. The quickest check is to add /products.json to the domain - if it returns JSON, it's Shopify. You can also open the page source and search for 'cdn.shopify.com' or 'Shopify.theme', which nearly every Shopify storefront includes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see all products in my own Shopify store?

In your Shopify admin, go to Products - it lists every product (active, draft and archived) with filters and bulk editing. To view your live catalog as customers see it, visit yourstore.com/collections/all.

Why does my storefront only show a few products per page?

That's your theme's products-per-page setting, not a Shopify limit. Increase it in your theme's collection settings or theme code to display more per page.

Does this work on every Shopify store?

Almost all of them. A small number disable the products.json endpoint or password-protect the storefront, in which case none of these methods return data.

Is it okay to view a store's products.json?

It's public data the store itself publishes to render its storefront, so viewing it is no different from browsing the site. Be respectful and don't hammer the endpoint with rapid automated requests.

How many products does it show?

Up to 250 per page with ?limit=250, and you page through with ?page=2, ?page=3 and so on until the list comes back empty - that's the full catalog.

Can I get notified when the catalog changes?

Yes, that's exactly what Shop Sentry automates. It reads the same data on a schedule and alerts you when a product, price or stock level changes.
